For those who have been following my blog, you would have known that the podcasts and lessons from koreanclass101.com played a major role in my self-study. 현우 오빠 was the main guy behind these lessons and podcasts and it was a real pleasure to meet him in person after listening to his voice for 2.5 years.
He is now running Talk To Me In Korean, which I’m sure wont be an unfamiliar name to those of you who are learning Korean. Actually, I think everyone who is serious about learning Korean knows 현우 오빠.
He has really been a great help to my learning journey, and it’s not exaggeration to say that without his lessons and podcasts, I’ll probably gave up on Korean long ago. I’m also inspired by his passion for learning and teaching languages. ^^
It’s really an honor to record this interview with him! Just finished listening to the interview. It feels really weird to hear myself >.<
Suddenly, I feel so motivated to work much harder and to blog more often. I’ve loads to share with you all 😀

I know TTMIK nv charge anything. I’m now in the middle of Level2 lesson in TTMIK. It was a really good lesson and it’s help me a lot. A million thanks to 선현우 씨 =)

16 July, 2010 at 11:41 PMhaha that’s strange.. sunday times has that weekly article where singaporeans living in other countries recommend places to go/ eat etc., and the article on seoul caught my attention cos the singaporean living in seoul was an ntu student on an exchange programme there. somehow your name seemed familiar.. i must be going nuts xD
anw, GSS sounds really interesting. the info they provided on the site is quite vague though. i understand that there are only a limited no. of places for each uni, so.. with what criteria do they decide who to offer the places to? also, for the south korea programmes, is there a minimum level of proficiency (in korean) i have to obtain before i can apply?

17 July, 2010 at 12:00 AMmmm yeah i agree it’s quite vague! they claim to choose according to GPA and ambassador qualitiese etc, but i’m not too sure though. you need a min of 3.6GPA to apply. For GSS, you can apply in year 1! For the semester exchange, it’s from year 2 onwards.
there’s no minimum level of proficiency! all the summer school courses are conducted in english (except for the korean language course). alot of my friends do not even take korean classes here! ^^
there’s a limited number of exchange spots, but no limit on fee paying students 😀 so if you are willing to pay, you will definitely be able to go.

17 July, 2010 at 12:40 AMhaha i’d consider myself an almost-complete beginner in korean. i learnt how to read/write 한글 about 4 months ago and have been following the TTMIK lessons ever since. I only have a hazy understanding of what you were talking about in this interview (the korean bits). ): well.. i’ll just have to keep working hard at it 😀

how did you study ? like your daily study time , learned a lesson practiced the whole day ?

8 August, 2010 at 5:08 PMmost of the resources that i used are found either in the Korean Resources page or under the category of korean studying tools etc.
i focused on all areas right from the start, but i dont really have much chance to practice speaking prior to going Korea.
there’s no fixed study time etc, but i did spent alot of time on Korean
