I am very much addicted to 해를 품은 달.
That very much sums up what I have been doing lately. I always have a curious obsession with Joseon Dynasty and I openly declare that I idolize King Sejong. But watching this drama has resulted in a full blown obsession, especially with the language. 😀 SO. BEAUTIFUL.
I’m not a big fan of sageuks but I must admit that I’m drawn in by 해품달. Not that it’s very historical, but I do love the language in there. I have, at times, tried to learn more about Korean history (specifically Joseon Dynasty) and now I hope to pick it up more seriously. (:
One day I was out of my mind and bought the book 한국문학통사 2. And I’m very happy that my book deals with the late 고려 period and the early 조선 dynasty. Reading the Joseon part has been really interesting, even though progress is slow.
The book is not directly about Korean history, but rather the history of its literature. But literature is also linked to history, so they offered plenty in the book. I’m so glad I can read Hanja!
Here’s a particular piece I liked ^^
So interesting!! 😀
On the other hand, I have been practicing 고급 TOPIK papers. I’m SUPER WORRIED that I’m going to fail!! D: Sigh!
Korean is like a safe haven for me. Whenever I’m feeling upset, stressed etc, spending some time on Korean will always make me feel better. I had no idea a language would have such an influence on me. But I’m very very very glad that I have never once give up Korean ^^
If anyone knows of a good podcast/TV show/documentary that deals with Korean history, let me know! I wanna learn more. I’m interested in the more traditional areas ^^
Did I say that I’m also addicted to this song?
