Day #22 신사동~ The area of socialites and wanna-bes

I’m hitting up hongdae later but thought I would just start blogging while resting my legs. Went to Sinsadong today for the first time this trip and I think the area has even more high end, independent shops than before. In case you don’t know, Sinsadong is besides Apgujeong (the high end area in kangnam) and I think it houses more independent brands whereas you can find the international brands at Apgujeong.
It’s still possible to get nice deals here, but you have to be careful of what you buy. Too many temptations.

heh can you see what I see?

In case you don’t know, that’s a chain restaurant own by YG’s SE7EN.

A really cool stairs to the basement where the shop is located!

There are a few cafes which are very popular with the crowd, and the open concept seems to attract people who wants to be seen. I don’t know, it seems like Coffee Smith is THE PLACE to hang out in when you are in Sinsadong. Lots of socialites, wanna-bes, expensive cars etc around the area. I’m just a poor student pretending to be erm rich in that area xD I know some of the people there are really rich, but I just don’t like it that they are giving that air and trying to tell the whole world that ‘I’m rich and posh – look at me’. O.o

I was walking behind 3 very well dressed girls decked in branded goods. They were talking about yearly salaries and how they should look for guys that have salaries of above XXX amount and that big corporations are blah blah while … etc etc. Tsk. Why don’t you work and earn that salary yourself?

Some of the shops are ridiculously priced. I’ve seen a metal ring cost 390,000won. O.o The reason why I was in that area is because I wanted a hoodie from PINK. There weren’t any nice long sleeved ones but I managed to score a short-sleeved hoodie on 20% discount! 😀

Bought two other long-sleeved tops to get ready for fall. I’m always so paranoid that it will suddenly turn cold without warning. Must. Control. Spending.

This is certainly attention grabbing!

Saw a really nice leather jacket in ALAND for 138,000won and I had to tear myself away from it. It’s so strange. I’m perfectly capable of not spending on anything when I’m in Singapore, but strangely I can’t control myself in Korea O.o

I solemnly promise to stay in the library and study from next week onwards. I will meet my friends once a while but NO MORE SHOPPING until I get so cold I need thicker clothes. BROKE.

Ahem, I gave in to temptation and bought this D: Not a very good picture but it’s really pretty~ The white disc is actually a clock face!

Went to hongdae for a meetup but one of the 언니s didn’t feel well and the crowd is making her feel worse. I ended up eating separately with her but she got so sick that she wanted to go back and I accompanied her to take the bus. Decided that I’m too lost to join the rest again, so took the subway back home! Hopefully she’s feeling better by now~~

Going to Insadong tomorrow for the 2nd time this week~~ hahaha I seriously think that I’ve visited most of the ‘usual places’ that new friends find it hard when they try to find somewhere to bring me to. hahaha.

Hopefully I’ll get an early night tonight and wake up tomorrow feeling happier.

That girl’s high heels are WAY too high and it’s obvious she can’t walk with them…

BTW, did you know that there are TWO 동네 called 신사? The other one is much much less fancy…

The newest fad (I guess), qns relating to type of housing, district of residence and annual salaries …especially when looking for a prospective partner. lol. Initially I was rather caught by surprise ..now ….blah..

Actually autumn isn’t that extreme in Seoul, I went around with a tank top during then and I’m the type to ‘freeze up’ in GV cinemas. lol Since we’re from Singapore it should be fine. Don’t get too stressed up with the apparels but maybe you might wanna get a pair of pretty rainboots!! There’s gonna be more rain soon iirc. =D

hahaha yeah i think i’m getting used to seeing such stuff. I’m glad to hear about the weather. I freeze up really easily in air con rooms too, so I’m totally freaked out. This will be the first fall that I ever experience xD

A Singapore friend of mine and I went for dinner once in Seoul during mid-winter. As soon as we went outside she was frozen in place and couldn’t move. I almost had to carry her to the taxi ^^

After reading your post, I guess I’ll spend to the last coins when I’m in Seoul this Oct. Now I’m fretting on what clothes to bring, knowing well that I’ll have nothing to wear even if I pack lots of clothes, it always happen to me when I travel…=_=
