Ki-Shun: a second hand Japanese bookstore in Singapore

If you are a Japanese language learner and in Japan, visit Bookoff.

If you are a Japanese language learner and in Singapore, visit KI-SHUN.

KI-SHUN is a small (but well-stocked) second hand bookstore in Singapore specialising in Japanese novels, non-fiction titles and even manga (!!!).

Located at the basement level of Hong Leong Building in the busy CBD district, it’s not somewhere where you will discover at random while going shopping – you have to know it’s there to go there.

And now that you know it’s there, please go there!

Stepping into the bookstore makes me feel like I’m back in Japan.  ❤

Rows and rows of Japanese books, a small chiller selling Japanese canned drinks, all the Japanese notices and the Japanese lady at the counter  ❤

I love how these books are like in almost-pristine condition! You can’t even tell that they are second-hand books. Novels are arranged by author names (just like in Japan) and the selection is pretty awesome!

I bought (yet another) 東野 圭吾 book for SGD 6!! What a steal! ^^

More novels!

A nice collection of non-fiction titles too.

and …..

This is how I envision my future room to look like! (I wish)

Rows and rows of manga series!!!! 😀

ORIGINAL JAPANESE MANGA

Like omg.

It’s like walking into a manga store, just that it’s way cheaper!

Priced reasonably too! (: very reasonably

I saw some titles that I recognise (not yet a manga pro) – like .. Kaichou wa maid sama (会長はメイド様), NANA etc

I’m itching to get my hands on a few series!! gosh.

If you are learning Japanese (and living in Singapore), this is definitely a place you have to check out! ^^

Now you know where to get Japanese novels in Singapore~~!

p.s. The B1 of Hong Leong Building seems to house quite a number of Japan-related shops. I guess there are quite a number of Japanese companies in the area?

I’m definitely going to drop by again.

Nice recommendation! Will ask my friend in SG to pickup Japanese books there next time he visits. How about you try befriending the Japanese lady over there so you have one more Japanese friend to practice speaking with. 🙂

question is are you still going to order books online? I’m such a spendthrift i will wait 2-3 years for the books to appear in nyc book-off lol…. I know if a book came out this year or something (unless it’s ridiculous popular) won’t be in book-off in NYC for a few years, not to mention the price will still be high but definitely nowhere near the online price with the shipping. plus there’s other books to check out in the meantime…

wow I can’t believe that all those books are second-hand, they’re so pristine! Japanese people/ people reading or learning Japanese must have superior book handling skills or something :S as much as I love Kinokuniya here in Sydney, it’d be nice to have something similar to this store where I live – must start searching around…

    Hey there,
I know your post is a bit old but do they have learning material ? Such as books to prepare JLPT or learn kanji.

If not can you recommend a store where I can find second hand books like these?

    Thanks
