[Ideas] An e-book for Hangukdrama?

Thanks for all the comments in the previous posts!! 😀 I haven’t finish replying to everyone, but I have read and re-read every single comment 😀

I’m in one of my positive and energetic moods again and I’m kinda toying with new ideas again. Selfstudykorean.com doesn’t seem to do as well as I hope it will. But blogging is something that is hard to commit to and most of the bloggers are really busy too D: I will try to revive it once I’m back home! ^^

Life in Seoul has settled to a comfortable routine and it’s not a bad thing! I find it an improvement that I’m no longer interested in shopping, touristy areas, drinking etc. But maybe it doesn’t help that I’m not interested in going anywhere either. I’m always such an extreme! D: I do enjoy meeting new people though! Anyone in Seoul who wants to meet up?

Okay, back to ideas. I am thinking of …. creating an e-book!!! I secretly dream of publishing my own book – an integrated book about learning Korean, traveling in Korea, my experiences etc. I don’t aim to be your next travel guide book or to even teach Korean (not qualified) but I just want to share my experiences. But I’m just a nobody and frankly, who would want to publish what I wrote? LOL.

So… I have come up with the next best alternative! An e-book!! 😀 Been researching some e-book publishing platforms and I’m .. lost. Will anyone be interested in helping me? 😀

Thinking of compiling some of the popular posts, editing some others and also creating loads of new content for it! And of course, it will be divided into several sections – interesting korean slangs, korean learning journey, experience in korea, studying in korea, interning in korea etc!

That being said, there are two important questions!

1. will you be interested in reading it?

2. will you be willing to pay a small amount for it?

Question 1 is obviously important. I won’t really spend a lot of time and effort to create something just for myself. And I need some motivation to do it. xD

Question 2 is also important. I am not getting any money from this blog and I always have the internal struggle of making money out of something that I love. On one hand it’s a brilliant idea, on the other I don’t want to be commercialized. Not that I will earn anything even if I put ads on this site 😛 Also, whether it will be free or paid will affect which platform I am going to publish it on. Scribd if it’s free, and maybe some other platform if I want to charge like $2 or something for it. LOL.

Ideas and comments please~~~~! ^^ You can post anonymously if you want to tell me that you won’t ever want to pay for something that I write 😛

I would definitely be interested in buying this as an e-book. Mainly the part about interning in Korea. I always like reading in depth stories of people’s experiences there, but I never see people writing about getting a job. I’d especially like it if you go into the actual process, anything unique, and what to expect rather than just your general experience. In the distant future my wife and I will be living there, so I’d like to read about someone’s experience in the job market.

Thanks! ^^ Getting a job is really tough in Korea – unless you have the right contacts. Or that you are a stellar individual that companies would want to have. Or specialized skills sought after.

Hey shanna! I have been a secret avid reader of your blog since 2010. Making a ebook is a good idea and I definitely willing to pay for it as long as it’s affordable. If I’m not wrong, I think you have a Mac right? You can make a ebook using Page. I’m not sure how to do it since I never tried before. It’s pretty cool and you can add video/audio into it too. 🙂 uh sorry I can’t help much but I really hope your ebook will be a success! Looking forward to it!

Bah I can’t be of any real help, but I think it would be cool of you wrote it like a memoir. Like interspersing details of your personal language learning experience along with tips and stuff. There are a lot of general “how-to” style books out there but there’s only ONE story of Shanna-the-language-learner! That’s something unique and interesting that you have to offer, if you’re comfortable with sharing that with the world. I’d definitely be willing to pay for whatever you decide to come up with. Keep the great ideas coming!

I would definitely pay for an e-book from you. (But I actually don’t know how to create one so I’m sorry I can’t be of any technical help.) I think many of your blog readers would be very happy to buy your book.

Definitely would be interested in purchasing an e-book! Especially if you could include some of your great photographs..and you’re not just a nobody…!!! If your dream is to publish than go for it and don’t let anything or anyone stand in your way.

No not paying. Trust me ,most ppl who say they dun mind paying in the end won’t pay at all. If you want your book to reach a wider audience please don’t put a price on it.

Thanks for the honest opinion! 😀 Actually I agree with you. I always say that I would love to see Big Bang etc if they come to Singapore etc but actually I wont really pay to see them. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Im not that familiar with all the ebook platforms yet but it seems like i will need to charge a fee for it if i want it to be published in the more popular platforms. Even if I end up doing it, it will be really something nominal like $1.99 or even less. LOL.

Sounds like an interesting project you have in mind. Not that I can be of much help when it comes to the technical issues of getting an e-book done, but I’d definitely would purchase one. I think it definitely would be a nice read, to see you perspective on things and your experience. I actually think such books are better than your classical travel/study guides. 😛
