Belated, I mean.
With all the things going on and all the things I had to do, I completely forgot that it was the blog’s 5th anniversary yesterday. Yeah, I couldn’t even get into the right mood of talking about TOPIK and I ended up sounding more depressed / annoyed than happy. Wanted to compensate with a proper post today, but the 239412 things I have on my mind / to do list is making this difficult.
First of all.
5 years of writing Hangukdrama. Never thought I could keep up a blog for five whole years and post even more frequently than I ever did last time lol. Clearly you know where my priorities lie ㅋㅋㅋ
TOPIK. Firstly, I’ll like to clarify that I’m not upset about my scores or anything. It’s true that I could have done better if I put in more effort, but then this is what everyone feels / says too. I think my mood yesterday sorta affected my writing and I came across as “upset”.
Passing TOPIK level 6 was always something on my bucket list for Korean and I’m so glad that I finally crossed it out. Five and a half years. This is how long I took, counting from the day I started learning Korean in Jan 2008.
2008 – started learning Korean
2009 – passed TOPIK level 4
2012 – passed TOPIK level 5
2013 – passed TOPIK level 6
To me, TOPIK 6 is less of a gauge of my Korean proficiency but more of a milestone that I achieved. (does that make sense?) It’s just something that I want to achieve with my own efforts. I want to prove that self studying Korean is totally possible and that one doesn’t need to take Korean classes (locally or in Korea) to achieve a TOPIK 6.
For those who are having doubts / feel that you are disadvantaged without a proper Korean teacher or class, I just want to say “hey, I did it. So can you” ^^
Of course, the journey doesn’t end here.
I will work hard to prove that I’m ever bit worth the paper qualification I now hold! 😀
You can also say that TOPIK 6 is the start of another new journey ^^

31 May, 2013 at 11:04 PMCongratulations once again. I did not feel you came across “upset”. I thought it was just the innate sense to continuously learn and improve. And happy 5th anniversary – I think you are doing a good thing 🙂
