6 In Japanese learning journey (:/ Korean learning journey (:

Everything sounds clearer :D

Weird title, but let me explain (:

Out of the 4 language skills, I develop the fastest in reading > writing > listening > speaking. I’m not the kind that pay much attention to song lyrics and I usually multi-task while listening to songs. Even for English/Chinese songs, I can remain relatively deaf to lyrics of songs that aren’t on my regular playlist. I’m always amazed by my friends who managed to hear the background song playing in some shop/restaurant and comment ‘this songs has nice lyrics.’ and proceeds to read out the lyrics.

Back to my point, I am suddenly very much tuned in to Korean lyrics. Everything becomes sharper and I am able to comprehend the song lyrics in addition to appreciating the tune. And it seems very natural. I hadn’t really realise about the sharpening of my urm instinct (?) until I recently listened to this song again. It was one of my weird fetish songs last year (i think) and I hadn’t listen to it in a long while. I remembered thinking that everything was sooo fast and I can only catch bits and pieces of the lyrics. But just a few days back, I listened to it again and I realised I can understand the song with ease (:

p.s. The song is really interesting, but not sure if it will fit everyone’s taste. 😀

I’m making good enough progress in Japanese too. I think my 4 language skills in Japanese will develop in the same order too! ^^

I judge a song almost completely by its lyrics haha so I’m really starting to appreciate the fact that I can understand songs a little too. Well, at least songs of the generic Kpop variety… XD. It’s a weird feeling, be able to understand something you couldn’t before, right? I recently went back and listened to some ancient 동방신기 songs I had waaaaaaay before I started learning Korean snd it was like a whole new world of meaning had opened up to me hahahaha.

    日本語の勉強も頑張ってね。

hahaha yeah! it’s especially meaningful when you listened to the same old material again! The progress is even more visible.

My language skills are developed in the same order too. I find it hard to speak Korean.
*sigh* I’m still a beginner and I still can’t relate to all the Korean songs that I’m listening to. I can’t even introduce myself in full Korean. XD And the only Korean song that I fully understand is 곰 세마리, the Korean nursery song. LOL.

Same here, but only because they sang it on nearly every single episode of Hello Baby Season 1, so it got drilled into my head from that show whether I wanted it or not…ㅋㅋㅋ

I can totally relate. Not to the song, but to THAT feeling. I used to listen to Kim Sam Soon’s OST on loop, everyday – to the point of memorizing the lyrics (without even recognizing the word boundaries and definitely without understanding them). Since I watched more dramas and listened to new OSTs, I’ve never listened to Sam Soon’s OST for a long time. I listened to it again recently and I was surprised I can understand it (not everything though, but most of it) and I was like, “Oh, so that’s what it says!”
