6 In Korean learning journey (:

Books and joy

Friday night and I’m down with a bad stomach flu.

Decided to give myself a (well-deserved) break and dedicated the evening to my books.

Books bring more joy to me than anything else. When I’m feeling down, a book haul cheers me up more than any other type of shopping. Maybe that’s why I have too many books at home ><. But I never learn, I just bought more stuff off g-market and I’m super excited to receive the items. No prizes for guessing what the haul contains.

I have quite a number of books that I read halfway and then stopped for one reason or another. But I’ll eventually go back to them again and sometimes I like doing so because I could very clearly see the progress I have made over the past years. I have this set of books in Korean that I bought perhaps in 2012 or even earlier. It used to be very challenging for me and I would have to look up words in every single sentence. Over the years, I go back to it every now and then to read a few pages but it gets easier over time. (although I’m still stuck at book 1 LOL) This time, it feels like I’ve made progress yet again and i’m highlighting lesser words per page.

I think this is what makes me love language learning. To see the progress made over time.

I’m about 70 pages from the end of book 1 hahaha. I’m hoping to complete book 1 by June and move on.

I believe you suffer from the same condition as me it’s called 積ん読. It makes me sad when I have to choose books to pare back my collection. I always send them to donation bookstores so someone else can get them.

I bought Ewha Korean 1-1 a few months ago and I’m still stuck in chapter 1. Haha! I hope to get back to it properly.
