Hi! I’m Shanna, a Singaporean in her early thirties.
First of all, this blog doesn’t talk about Korean dramas. I’m sorry.
I’m born and bred in Singapore and hence grew up speaking both English and Mandarin Chinese. I wasn’t really a language lover until I acted on a random decision to pick up Korean back in Jan 2008. It was a life-changing decision. Foreign language learning has brought SO much to my life. Doing an internship in Seoul, being a freelance Kor-Eng/Chi translator, using it in my ex-job and meeting so many like-minded friends are just a few examples!
Besides Korean, I’m also learning Japanese (since 2012), Russian (since end-2019) and have also began to learn Thai in April 2020. For Korean, I passed TOPIK Level 6 in 2013 and have been renewing the certification every two years. For Japanese, I passed JLPT N2 in 2016, renewed it in 2019 and am working towards an N1.
This is a space where I share my love for the languages I know, as well as tips / methods / resources for self-studying languages. I am a self-learner and I’m proud of it. I believe that self-studying can be even more rewarding and fun compared to classes and I have so much to say about the topic.
