Tips for taking TOPIK

Tomorrow the the D-Day for the 28th TOPIK!

Here’s some last minute tips!

Keep Calm

Think of it as 3 hours of Korean fun! 😀 Enjoy it! I get a kick out of doing TOPIK papers XD

Don’t think too much!

You won’t have the time to think too much. Especially for the reading section. If you don’t get it, skip it

Don’t panic even when you are on the verge of it

For the reading section, you may come to the point where you are acutely aware of the ticking time and that Korean words are swimming above your head.

Don’t panic. If you try to speed read even though you don’t have the ability to, you are just doing yourself a disservice. Focus

Avoid thinking too much for the reading section

Personally, I suck at the short answer questions for the writing section! I take a whatteveeerr I tried attitude to it everytime and don’t bother thinking too much about it

Plan your essay

That’s basic. Isn’t it? Basic 101 writing lesson.

Have loads of fun

Korean is fun. Why so serious?

Ignore other people

haha don’t try to compare your progress with the people around you. Especially if you are in the advanced paper with a whole room of Koreans / Gyopos XD

p.s. Okay this list wasn’t that serious 😀 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I’m taking the test tomorrow morning! Only beginner level but it’s my first time taking TOPIK so I have no idea how the whole test environment will be like. The only thing that worries me most is that I have to get up so early in the morning!!! Anyway, thanks so much for the tips! I feel like having a very nice 선배님! 파이팅!

It went well, I guess! I was unsure of a few questions, and the essay part was much much shorter than expected. I never knew that there could be so many spaces in a sentence! That took me the longest. Oh, and it was my first time at SKS as well. So far from the bus stop! How did you manage to travel there when you were taking their classes a few years ago??
