The foodie in me

spent the entire day in joo chiat/marine parade yesterday. so.. what is that area famous for? Joo Chiat Dumplings and Katong Laksa of course. (: And of course, I have to try both. I’ve eaten the dumplings once in a while since I was young and I’m glad to say that they have not disappoint me over the years. No pictures though, I forgot.

and moving on to the Katong Laksa, there are so many stalls in that area claiming to sell the ‘real’ thing that most people won’t be able to figure out which stall to try. I tried one stall opposite roxy square, besides the fruit stall that was crowded with customers (many customers=good food) and wow. it’s great. nothing like the laksa you get in normal food centres.

It doesn’t have that sickening layer of chilli oil and the soup is rather pale, not fiery chilli red. For those who look their spicy food, there’s a bottle of chilli on the table (:

Besides the laksa, I had popiah for lunch too. I couldn’t remember the exact address, but I heard the shop’s famous for being a supplier of popiah skins.
