9 In Korean learning journey (:

Reflection time

I need a source of motivation.

I missed the time when I could sit down for hours and concentrate on Korean, absorbing little by little. And most importantly, enjoy every single moment.

Now, I just slack and slack my time away. I told myself that it’s the holidays now. What better time to start concentrating on Korean? During school days, I used to say that I wish  I could spend more time on Korean. But when I have the time, I don’t.

No. I haven’t lost my passion for Korean (: of course not ^^

But I seem to lose my motivation for lots of things. I just don’t feel like doing anything. ㅠㅠ I can’t concentrate on anything for more than 15 mins before I start feeling tired and stoned.

Maybe I should spend some time reading the archives and comments on the blog (: It never fails to bring a smile to my face when I read all the comments you guys have left.

Oh. And it feels really lousy to re-learn a language which you used to know a little but has now totally forgotten. So, if you are thinking of dropping a language for a while because you are busy etc, don’t! If you know you definitely want to continue learning at some point of time, don’t ever give up/forget what you already know (:

I’ll be writing some meatier posts, sharing stuff I’ve learnt these few days (:

Hey Shanna, do not give up. I understand your feelings. I started korean language about 5-6 years ago…studied basic for only 9 mths i stopped for 2 years due to some commitment in my life. after the 2 years break, i decided to start it again as i realised my passion was still there! I continued for another 2 more years. I am still learning now but i must admit i did not spent enough time on it, 그래서, 잘 못했습니다. 미안합니다, i will try to write in korean in my next post to u. 나도 싱가풀사람입니다. 이름이 미쉘입니다.

i dont know. for me, i failed my JLPT3 3yrs ago, n somehow, when i started, i was confident of getting there.. but somehow, when i failed, i sort of gave up. n busy with sch during this period, made me lost contact with japanese alanguage even more. n now, i feel like like learning both korean n japanese language. i think i’m greedy..

If you really like Japanese, don’t give up! ^^ Although I’ve been really busy with school and stuff, I didn’t give up on Korean. Even watching some dramas/listening to songs helped keep me in contact with the language. ^^

I lost total contact with Japanese though. I used to know a little (really little) but I gave it up when I became busy. Cos I’m not really that interested in Jap in the first place oops. Now I find it hard to re-learn ):

You should learn both languages! Since you are interested in them (: Both are really similar so it will be helpful too!

uhm I don’t really practice everyday, just that I do sth related to korean everyday. Just keep myself immersed in the language!

yes yes. having to drop a language when u once learned because of tight schedule is a definite no-no.. all the time u have put in and all those effort will be gone in the drain. i wish i can continue my faith in learning Korean because my University is starting and I somehow know it’ll eat up most of my time… but i deifinitely don’t want to give up my Korean. (:

I can totally relate to how you feel! ^^ There’s still a few months left before uni starts (if you are in singapore!), so just make the best use of the time now 😀 😀

Even if you dun have time to progress when school starts, just make sure you dun forget what you learnt!

      just some personal thoughts XD

This happens to me once in a while too. Not just in studying Korean. Other stuff too. There are just time like this when when you finally have loads of time with you and have the opportunity to do what you’ve always wanted to do when you didn’t have enough time, you suddenly just can’t focus on anything… 😐
