4 In Japan

Out and about in Osaka #1

In retrospect, I should have blogged daily or at least keep track of all the interesting things that happened / things I wanted to talk about. Relying on my memory is definitely the wrong choice. Well, now I will have to let the pictures speak for themselves.

Erm.. somewhere in Osaka 😛

Cheap thrill because we finally saw the Suntory brand that we always hear about in Japanese dramas (the sponsor announcement).

If you guys remembered, one of the items in my to-do list for Japan is to eat Yakisoba bun. wtf. hehe At first I keep thinking that it’s just a fictional item because I first heard of it in a manga (Flame of Recca) but I always thought it was an ingenious idea. Was super excited to find it in a convenience store so we bought and shared it as a snack! I really liked it! 😛

Had lunch at a random restaurant that we decided to walk into. At first it was really empty (we went quite early) but later we realized that it was actually a popular place for the salarymen in the area (it was a CBD area).

The first Japanese menu I read. I spent quite some time trying to figure out what 海老 was HEH. If you can read the menu, it says that rice and miso soup is refillable (!!!!). Their portions were huge so we didn’t need to do any refilling but omg the miso soup is to die for!! Not the watery instant crap you get in restaurants here, but the real deal with chunks of meat, vegetables in it!!

I loved that there were free flow eggs too, the kind where you can crack one open and mix it with the rice. I can totally survive on raw egg + rice in Japan. Their eggs have a more orangey yolk and it doesn’t smell or taste weird at all.

The interior design looked really good too. I guess the place is pretty famous for its seafood or sashimi, you see tanks of live fishes / eels there!

My meal! (Before I cracked the egg into the rice)

1,000 yen set meal! I can only imagine how much it will cost me if I ate this in Singapore. Probably at least twice the price?

Took a walk around ^^

There’s just something very neat and orderly about the whole place!

In your first picture you are in Umeda! It’s the CBD of Osaka. I used to live there!

More precisely, you were here: 国道176号線 / 国道1号線
