Not feeling very inspired to blog.
Feeling more inspired to study.
Book review coming out soon~
Have a merry Christmas~~~! ^^
Thanks for all the discussion on Open Thread #1. Nice to read about everyone’s views!! Have fun with this too!!
Question of the week: Which sites do you use to learn Korean? Can be anything.
*but you know you can also talk about everything and anything else! (:
For example, I’m using the SBS news site to watch news while reading the transcripts. Helps a lot in improving listening skills and learn difficult words! And I’m going to borrow a Korean history book in English! Helps to complement what I’m reading in Korean 😀
p.s. if your comment doesn’t come through, dun panic. I’ll approve them. The recent influx of spam has made me set the spam control a little tight.

23 December, 2012 at 11:21 PMInstead of watching and reading transcripts, do 받아쓰기 then check the transcripts. Painful but very helpful.
I don’t study using sites (er, I don’t study, period. :X), but this one has alot of drama transcripts for the drama fanatic to download 🙂

23 December, 2012 at 11:39 PMI just love your posts they are full of information and fun anecdotes lol Somehow you just find so many ways to make learning enjoyable and you always keep me interested. But somehow I cannot make myself listen to news or other things in Korean except for music. And maybe that’s why I’m not picking up new words. And for the love of God I cannot bring myself to speak Korean :'( I just get nervous and forget the little words that I know lol But maybe this 2013 I will work on that.
For me the sites where I’m learning Korean are of course TalkToMeInKorean, lang-8, livemocha (although this site has some errors with audio or with written letters, and sometimes it’s hard to do the lessons because if you don’t know how to conjugate words then you will do bad lol but there’s people that will correct you so it’s no biggie.)
And well the other thing that is helping me is the first two books that I bought “Sogang Korean 1A Student’s Book and Workbook” and I’m like on the last 3 pages :'( but the good thing is that I already have more books lol Which thanks to you I have the first 8 books from Ewha Korean. So hopefully I will pick up more words and learn new things with these books. Thanks so much for recommending them and I hope to see more blog posts from you.
And sorry for making this sooooooo long.

24 December, 2012 at 12:15 PMaww Brenda! Thanks for liking the blog 😀 Speaking is always the most difficult part. Feeling the same way for Japanese right now, but it’s still a barrier that all of us have to conquer!
Heard about livemocha quite some time back but haven’t had the chance to look at it yet! heehee you are really building a small korean library there!!

23 December, 2012 at 11:45 PMIs there a way to save the audio or video from SBS? I always like saving stuff I study with.

23 December, 2012 at 11:46 PMTalk To Me In Korean is my favourite site to learn Korean. I want the textbooks. D: I also like lang-8 although I’m not using it now. I did use it for Japanese in the past though.

23 December, 2012 at 11:52 PMHands down, TTMIK. Hahaha! I love their iyagi series. Learning so much from them. I always recommend them to my friends since their lessons are good and most of important of all, they’re free and it’s perfect for stingy people like me and my friends. Hahaha! Then there’s Naver for their dictionary, news articles on celebrities (I don’t even read allkpop or any other English kpop news sites anymore. XD) and webtoons. I also use lang-8.com.

24 December, 2012 at 10:44 PMIf you use some kind of media converter you can get just the audio portion — I’m saving the audio portion for a bunch of the SBS videos onto my mp3 player fore easy listening.

24 December, 2012 at 10:19 AMhttp://korean.sogang.ac.kr/ is an old site but I would recommend it if you want challenge yourself in listening. The conversations are really fast but it helped me improve my listening and work harder as a beginner. Just remember to keep listening to things, even if you can’t hear them at first.

27 December, 2012 at 3:11 AMHehe, I think my go to site is yours, hangukdrama.com. I’ve always tried to learn languages through self study but gave up because of I find it hard and that niggling doubt that self study wouldn’t bring about good results. Your site has introduced me to some excellent resources but most of all it offers much needed encouragement! Thank you for that, by the way.
Other than the ones already mentioned I have used this one, http://www.learnkoreanonline.net/how-to-korean which requires you to pay after a certain level which I haven’t done yet BUT so far the free stuff (of which there is a good amount) has augmented other resources very well.
