As always the amount of dedication and passion you have toward Korean is impressive. If only I have that much dedication…..I was sick this month for about 3 weeks and 2nd week into my cold I was coughing too much that I couldn’t continue with my language studies, its been a week since I recovered, but I have not restart my study yet. It is hard to continue where you left off when you stopped for a prolong period, but when I get home from work I definitely have to continue my studies today.

glad you are feeling better! ^^ Sometimes it’s really hard to restart, but as long as you love the language, you will find enough motivation to do it ^^

Right around Christmas time I got laryngitis. I learned that I could physically not make the necessary sounds to speak Korean. In English I could speak in a softer tone or change my pitch to make a sound, but the way that sounds are produced in Korean I could not make an utterance. It took about 2 weeks before I could speak again. Strange, even though I have no one to talk to in Korean it really took the wind out of my sails. It took an until the 1st of Feb before I was back to where I was a Christmas. BUT I’M BACK AT IT AGAIN FULL BORE!

  3. Wow! That’s quite a project if you are planning to go through all of them this weekend :-D My weekend is going to be dedicated to studying for an exam…

Just out of curiosity, how fast do you read in Korean? Of course it depends on the genre, but if it’s a regular crime novel/popular fiction? Or even some of the non-fiction books that you read?
That’s one of the things I sometimes find very frustrating about reading a language I’m not very good at. I know how quickly I can get through a book in my native language or English, but in language learning process I’m suddenly reduced to counting pages per day rather than per hour.

hehe I think I wasn’t clear on that. The project doesn’t have anything to do with the novels. hahaha. :P I can go through one book a day but definitely not 5 over 2 days. Takes out the fun of reading if I’m rushing through them.

MMM I actually don’t really know how to describe. I definitely don’t read it at the same speed as English and definitely slower than in Chinese too (doubt I can finish reading a Korean novel in one day although I can do that in Chinese). I am counting chapters per day at the moment. Mmm I think I managed to read over 100 pages a day for 전우치 once. Can’t really remember XD

Ah, studying. I’m slowly getting back into it. You’re planning on doing that this weekend? Whoa. When I read that you were re-reading that this weekend I thought “I wonder how much food I would eat this weekend if I was doing that?” LOL I always seem to blow my diet whenever I start to study, haha. XD Good luck with studying! ^^

ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I think I was totally being misleading in the post. I’m not studying using that :P It’s just a personal challenge to figure out the timeline for the books. There are a lot of interconnected events in the series, some hints dropped here and there and major characters in a book making a minor appearance in another. There’s a overarching story / structure behind everything and I’m trying to figure it out. :D Although you can read them as standalone books.

hehe and yes I’m gonna need a lot of food. ㅎㅎㅎ

Just kidding. xD I’m reading 우행시 and it’s so SO depressing. But in a good way. My friend also sent me a copy of 告白 and I just started on that. Kind of crazy for a “first” Japanese novel but I don’t believe in starting small. I literally just learned the kanji for ‘milk’ yesterday haha.

ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ i cried like shit when i watched the movie >< ;;; have you seen it?
Challenge is good. You will reap the same level of benefits! :D

I wonder how long it will take me before I can read the books….What proficiency level do you think one needs to reach before she can understand the books?
