Ohman, the fangirling’s back

I distinctly remembered saying something like “oh I’m pretty much out of kpop except for big bang/2ne1″. But now I have to eat my words with the debut of GOT7 and the upcoming debut of WINNER. I have also gotten into EXO (their songs, at least) and I’m reminded of how I used to like Block B.

LOL.

Actually I’m really surprised at how much I like GOT7. They made a favorable impression in their  battle against the YG trainees in Who Is Next, but I never thought I’ll like them. Cos I have never liked any of the JYP groups (just not my style). Then again, GOT7 feels quite different from the other JYP groups, or maybe I just like hip hop groups better?

In any case, my kpop bias list is shifting (again).

Usually I’ll like one-two members in a group first but I can already remember everyone in GOT7 and I like them ALL. Which is like a first?!

If I have to pick, I think I’m liking JR, Jackson and Youngjae a lot for now ^^

(their perf is much nicer than the MV)

:D

A healthy dose of fangirling is always good.

안구정화 ㅋㅋㅋ

by that way, that’s a new internet term (slang) which literally means eyeball (안구) purification (정화). It’s used when you see something good/pretty/handsome etc for a change. If you watched “Shut Up Flower Boy Band”, the band name is 안구정화, which is a reference to their exceptional looks. And in “You who Came from the Stars”, the manga shop lady searched for Big Bang photos on the internet because she needed to see good looking faces for a change instead of the ajusshis in her store lol.  >>>> Korean explanation here

hehe who do you look at when you need 안구정화?? :D

Reading Infection Game (still…) haha. Around 100 plus pages more to go and the plot is getting more exciting. ^^ Can’t wait to finish this and move on to another Higashino Keigo novel and then have a legitimate excuse to buy more books x.x

okay i shouldn’t!

  1. I moved across the country and I’m now learning Korean as my major in university. Kpop did, in the end, play a part in my decision and it definitely lightened the mood in those months of transition! I’m not always up to date with the new arrivals of the industry but I have heard of GOT7 because my classmates are huge fans already. I hear they have a hard time choosing favorites among the boys, as well. Now, I’ve seen many a pretty/good looking boy since I’ve been immersed in this new world and interesting culture, and I do appreciate any and everything beautiful as much as the next person, but my ultimate 안구정화 (I love this expression – we have a similar expression in my native language too) is still JYJ’s Jaejoong, oddness and all. :D

Good luck with your reading and keep up the good work!

  2. I like them too!
My bias is Mark and BamBam (and probably JB too << I used to like him a lot in Dream High2)

  3. Hi!
I just came upon your website and am SO EXCITED to be following you and to learn Korean the way you learned it! Your blog is so interesting, and I love how it’s just bursting with so much Japanese and Korean culture (I’m half Filipino, but I’m just as interested in the Japanese and Korean cultures as I am the Philippines! ^_^) Keep at it! Thank you for your hard work!
