New Optimus G + favorite novel = happy

Those who know me will know that I’m not really typical in a lot of ways. I love my tech gadgets, my books (especially Korean ones) and I will rather have a walk in library than a walk in wardrobe.

Although I can’t be considered as a tech geek, I loveee playing with new technology, exploring new functions / platforms etc! So I was super happy yesterday!! People who have been following me on social media will have already known, since I couldn’t stop gushing over 2 things:

My new toy: LG Optimus G and a new book from my all time favorite author!!

(okay my temporary toy ㅠㅠ)

There’s 20% for this newest installment in Kino right now, so go grab ok!!!

hehe being an apple user, this is actually my first experience with Android. 😀

This was how the phone looked like what I first received it.

And obviously I just have to change some things 😛

There’s apparently quite a number of functions to explore in this phone and I’m pretty excited. I’m going to fully utilize it!!

Some things I’ll be doing:

  • record audio blogs
  • make videos
  • photos (of my notebooks ㅎㅎ)
  • read web novels

CAM00001

(first photo from the phone. 13 mega pixel camera… yay)

Will do a review soon! And knowing me, you can trust that you will get an honest review 😀

I’ll probably look at the phone from the perspective of a language learner too! Probably also taking this opportunity to review some apps.

Let’s see how useful it will be! ^^

p.s. sorry for sounding all excited ㅎㅎ I really love new gadgets and books

Wow nice phone!!! 😀 You have joined the correct side now >:D There is so much more to do with android phones, but I have to admit that Apple has better apps. I hope you won’t be too disappointed with the app selection. But I always like the great font for the Korean characters 🙂 I cannot wait for your upcoming stuff, don’t keep us waiting hahaha.
you shouldn’t be sorry about being exciting about your new gadgets ㅎㅎ I think many of us love technology stuff like this also like me 😛 if you have any questions about the android phone, feel free to ask! I love working with this stuff 😀

temporarily joining. The phone’s for me to review. Although I’m so tempted to get it 😛 I don’t really need a lot of apps and most Korean apps will have Android version first anyway 😛

I’m still very new to the system. Any particularly good apps / functions you think I should try out?

Oops sorry, I guess I didn’t get that from your post. But it definitely seems that you are on the dark side now haha from your twitter. I would definitely suggest something with a lot of ROM development, because the phone companies just stop updating their phones and focus on new phones. So when your phone gets older, there are developers still keeping your phone up with the new firmware so that way you don’t have to keep buying a new phone! XDA forums is where all the android related stuff are at, and I checked out your phone on that forum and there’s not much development going on. So I would suggest Samsung Galaxy s3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 2 because they have very good development going on now. Anyways enough of the Android geek’s ramblings hahaha. That’s true 😛 I just wish I had access to the Korean playstore.

Hmmm… I would definitely recommend Swiftkey keyboard. It has great predictions and it also has Swype with it now. Awesome thing that it has Korean and English languages for it 😀 But I think the thing about this that will annoy you, is probably the Korean predictions because it probably will think something else maybe. You should definitely try it out, I think there’s a free version to try also? If you don’t want to pay (I’m not sure if you are into some piracy or not) you can find the apk files online.
I’m sure you already noticed there are a lot more free apps so I guess that’s a plus 😛 Hmm definitely look around for some good widgets that you might use, and I actually don’t have many Korean apps ㅠㅠ I just had the TTMIK app. I should definitely look around some more and I will tell you if I think of some more good apps~

yes i wish i can have access to Korean playstore too. I don’t think we can choose the region on the app right? I like to browse for the latest Korean apps and see if there’s anything that can be used for learning Korean. >< thanks for sharing!!

Nope like a year ago, we could access other countries playstore easier but google has taken measures against this ㅠㅠ. I’ve been looking for ways around this like VPN, but if I find something that works, I’ll definitely let you know first :P. Ah I hope you are able to find some things!

            You’re welcome!!

Nice phone!! The screen looks quite long… My HTC don’t have Korean language settings, so I still have to use English… 🙁

Not sure what phone you had before but this one looks like a nice upgrade! I had purchased a Samsung Galaxy SII in the beginning of January. I must confess that when I wanted a new phone to do more korean stuff with, like display nice korean fonts and such, I was most tempted to go with Samsung because they are Korean. I would think a Korean designer and manufacturer would do the best job, eh! For the most part in have been very happy with my new phone. Check this out….I was so excited about learning my korean and becoming fluent thatnimhad made the decision to change the default language in my phone from English to Korean (to immerse myself in the language) to literally learn how to read the menus and words representing icons out of necessity if I had too. I was using online dictionaries and other resources to “decrypt” my phone and learn some new words in the process. Well, I lasted about 3 days because there were boxes popping up asking me to make a choice and other menus like wifi and sounds that I needed to know what I was clicking! Shanna, it would be amazing if you could, at some point, do a video tutorial about navigating the apps and menus in Korean on your phone along with the background on why some words my apply for phone but not in speech (if that should apply); believe me, there is no video on the Internet that does this for korean beginners looking to adopt it on their phones, you could be breaking some serious new ground.

hehe only a temporary upgrade D: It’s temporarily given to me to try out. Wish I can keep it though XD Yeahh, I think my main consideration for new phones will be how good it can function with Korean stuff. Don’t think I’ll ever get a phone without Korean language support. I’ll be so pissed.

hehe I like the idea!! Although I’ll probably do it in a post format. If I do a video tutorial, it will probably involve a lot of editing and I’m terrible at it 😡

Hi. Can I ask the name of the book you purchased and also the name of your favorite author? I guess (from the cover) that it is a crime novel, isn’t it?
