My first Korean variety show without subs

You know that kind of feeling where you are already so used to something that you are unwilling to do without it even though you may not need it anymore? (okay that sentence sounds convoluted)

I feel insecure without subs on Korean shows and even though I can understand what’s going on more and more, I’m still unwilling to let go of subs. Between a subbed and non-subbed version, I’ll definitely go for the subbed ones. But I’m glad to say I finally took the step forward and watch an entire episode without subs!

Not that I have a choice. The subbed version wasn’t out yet and I REALLY want to watch it asap!!

So what am I talking about? – None other than new SBS variety show Strong Heart (강 심장)! ^^

I’m totally in love with that show right now and I guess I’ll always remember Strong Heart Ep 1 as my first ever Korean Variety show without subs 😀

(how could I ever miss this show when GD’s a guest? XD)

When I was still in Korea I had no choice but to watch everything without subs but I didn’t complain because it really help me improve my Korean! With my cellphone with a built in kor-english dictionary I was able to understand the shows!^^ 화이팅 shanna^^

고마워요! ^^ I’m really happy too XD I hope to progress to dramas without subs soon! Somehow I find it more difficult to understand dramas compared to variety shows. >.<

Variety shows has a lot of captions so it’s a lot more easier to understand. I still find it hard to watch dramas but when I was still in Korea I survived ㅋㅋㅋ I just connect everything they say so I could understand what they’re talking about. History dramas are more difficult to understand.

Being able to watch dramas without subs is one of my motivations to continue studying hard. I once watched City Hall live. But back then, my Korean is still very novice. I can only pick up VERY few phrases and words. I’m actually eagerly waiting for Kim Sun Ah to have a drama soon. I would have no choice again but to watch it unsubbed, then I can gauge how much have i improved from last time.

Maybe I’m not just used to variety shows. I find it easier to understand dramas than variety shows. Oh, not that I do understand dramas completely. ㅋㅋㅋ
