0 In Korea 대한민국/ Useful tips

Following the previous salon recommendation post, quite a number of people have asked if there is a salon that is able to cater to non-Asian hair.

Groove (그루브), located in the Jamsil district, may just be what you are looking for!

Seriously, Korean salons are just sooo pretty and unique!

Kevin, the hairstylist there, has many years of experience working in salons abroad. He has worked in Melbourne for 3 years and Bangkok, Thailand (in a district popular with foreigners) for another 3 years, so rest assured that he will be able to handle non-Asian hair. AND he speaks enough English to communicate with customers, so you will be able to communicate with him on how exactly you want your hair done 😀

The salon uses Aveda products, so if you are very particular on what stuff they use on your hair, rest assured that you hair is in good hands (and products).

The price chart looks quite decent too:

  • Cut: 23,000won
  • Design perm: 50,000won
  • Magic (straight) perm / volume magic / setting perm: 90,000won
  • Treatment: 70,000won
  • Loreal color: 60,000won (highlight whole hair: 100,000won, half: 60,000won)
  • Aveda color: 80,000won (highlight whole hair: 120,000won, half: 80,000won)

** Same price regardless of length

[note: price stated is to my best knowledge. Please enquire again at the salon]

Looks good! I think I’ll give this salon a try the next time I’m in Korea 😀 If you are looking for a new salon to try, you may want to consider Groove!
