K-Study | J-Study Updates

Time check:

  • 1 more month to TOPIK
  • 1.5 more months to JLPT

K Study

Not much progress have been made besides reading articles on Yonhap and revising advanced grammar points. I need to take some time out to look at the new TOPIK format to familiarise myself with the question types. Not planning to study for listening so hopefully all the drama-watching would help. I might start to watch KBS news or something everyday.

J Study

Been spending more time on JLPT preparations instead. Yet I’m still woefully behind when it comes to all the N2 grammar points that I need to learn. I used to read only fiction in Japanese but now I’m branching out to news articles on NHK news / Yahoo news etc. I feel strangely excited and motivated when I have to check out new words every now and then. I need to start practicing listening questions! Trying to up my listening proficiency by watching dramas / listening to radio.

C Novels

hahaha I’m still in my c-period novel obsession stage. If you are wondering why I haven’t been updating the Chinese Novels Recommendations page, it’s because I’m currently reading this 14-volume series (纨绔世子妃 by 西子情). It’s almost all loaned out in the libraries so I have to resort to reserving them (for a fee each….). D: I’m at book 8 / 9 and it’s a great read so far! Will review the entire series once I’m done.

This is just a short update! If you are also preparing for the tests, leave a comment and share your progress too!

I only got four days left before TOPIK and I’m just studying some of the intermediate grammar points and vocabulary I apparently forgot. I’m also trying to read more Korean entertainment and astronomy articles these past few days. Hopefully I can pass TOPIK II this time. It’s been almost two years since I passed Level 2 and hoping I can finally get a Level 3.

On the other hand I plan to take JLPT N4 mid-next year. I’m gonna return to self-studying Japanese after TOPIK so this might be a good timing to review everything since I finished studying Genki I and II already. Anyway, I’m just curious, what textbooks are you using in lieu of JLPT N2?
