K-study and J-study updates

Just a random thought but I think the reason why I’m efficient and consistent in my language studies is because I study whenever I’m happy, sad, annoyed, angry, depressed etc. lol. So basically that’s my main outlet of expressing myself and venting my emotions hahaha. It’s a good thing though, and a healthy choice. ^^

In any case, this is going to be a random post about nothing in particular. Super addicted to Strawberry Night and I’ve already read 100 pages + so far!!! hahaha. Sometimes I wonder where I get the energy to read a book twice (on page 50+ for my 2nd reading where I check out new vocabulary). I think I’ve reached the 100 page mark faster compared to the time I was reading 白夜行! hehehe. I haven’t abandoned 白夜行, at the 275 page mark for now!

Been studying Korean proverbs and I’ll have the proverbs posts out again soon! ^^

ahhhhh I have a phone interview in Korean sometime this week and I’m like x.x I haven’t spoke Korean for like (i dunno how long) and I generally don’t like phone interviews. hahaha I don’t like talking on the phone  actually. Hopefully the interview will be alright! It’s something I look forward to! 😀

I highly doubt my Japanese is going to come out in the interview. Like accidentally saying はい!or like ええと. lol Highly doubt so, my Japanese is still not so ingrained in me lol.

On a side note, I think I need to purchase desktop speakers. Always using my earphones and it’s not good for my .. ears. >< My night blindness is getting a little … worse too -.- urghh.

It’s freaking hot these days and I try my best to stay indoors. Hope the weather’s nicer on your side!

I just started using your method for learning new vocabulary and I love it so much more than the whole flashcard route. I realized I was so bored just staring at this flashcard app and not even really retaining anything…writing down the words I see with examples somehow helps me to remember them more. Awesome ^.^

You’ve also inspired me to start reading a Korean novel (무슨 일이 일어났는지 아무도) and I’m gonna buy some Korean rice wine too. EVEN MORE, I just started a Japanese drama (Liar Game) and feel like I might be getting the Japanese bug…reading Hanguk Drama is having too much of an influence on me ^.^

    Hi Shanna

Reading your blog always tempt me to get more korean books. But i promise myself not to. Anyway, good luck on your phone interview 🙂

P.S. The weather is getting weird these days in Singapore. Very very hot + sudden heavy rain. A lot of my friends already fell sick. Take care 🙂

Shanna, take care of your eyes please.I know that you/we can’t help to devour a book but once we neglect our eyes, damaged is unlikely to be reversed.
I’m having red eyes from too much reading T_T

It’s interesting that you are able to do your language learning no matter what your mood. I myself need peace and quiet and have to be in a fairly positive frame of mind to make my learning ‘stick’.

I’m trying to learn Spanish myself at the moment and really like your idea of reading books to pick out and learn more vocabulary. Another similar idea I’ve come across recently is to watch subtitled movies – in my case I’ll watch a Spanish movie with English subtitles. I get to learn some new vocabulary while sitting on the couch watching TV – how lazy is that!

Good luck with your phone interview by the way.

      Hi Joe!

Thanks for the comment! Watching subtitled stuff is definitely a good way to learn! I get to relax, enjoy the content and can easily convince myself that being a couch potato actually helps in language learning! (well it really does help). Lazy and effective is the way to go haha. I used to learn a bit of Spanish (even prior to Korean) but somehow just gave up – don’t really get access to Spanish books / dramas / movies etc here, no Spanish friends, not much knowledge of the culture/country and hence I find it hard to get attached to the language. D: Will love to pick it up again in the future perhaps! Have fun learning! ^^
