I’m a language geek

Seriously, most girls want a walk-in wardrobe. I want a walk-in library. With a whole collection of all the Korean textbooks / resources published. I want a pigeon hole like bookshelf where each square will contain the books from one publisher. The yonsei books will probably take up like 2-3 squares lol. Then I want a collection of my favorite Korean novels. And my Japanese learning books in Korean. wooooots.

I think I’ll be super super super happy. People review makeup items, I review language learning books hahaha.

I want to live my live immersed in the beauty of languages. Despite all my complaints about doing my thesis, I’m actually pretty happy cos it’s on a topic that I’m genuinely interested in and I love looking at my data. 😀 I may blog about it and share some of the stuff after I submit everything ^^ I think some of you will find it interesting~

My idea of relaxing is studying languages and playing my fav big bang songs / a podcast on the side. I like to watch Korean documentaries and films. My favorite museum is the King Sejong Museum in Korea. ><

This is me. I’m not going to change. Even if I end up being one of the millions normal salaried office ladies or what not in the future.

Maybe by 40 years old I’ll be super good in Korean. hopefully hahahaha

On a different note…. there is something that I reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy want. I seldom really want something but this time, I really want it.

I shall work hard towards it. But such things always come with a dash of luck. ^^

I’m so cryptic lol.

I’m a language geek.

Rhymes.

I feel the same way kinda ^^ while a walk-in closet would be kind of nice, I find books more interesting. My only problem is that I tend to get distracted from learning Korean for like 2 weeks, then I finally have time again and then it’s just a never ending cycle :\

Dude, a walk-in library of my language books would be beautiful!!! TToTT I love love love learning languages. Spanish would be under my belt if I would just freaking learn more vocabulary. XD Korean and Japanese are on the way and on the list is Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Dutch, German, Arabic (not sure which one yet), Croatian, and French is a maybe. I like how it sounds. That’s it. XD

My mom thinks I have enough books for Korean and Japanese already. I’m like, “but multiple resources are a good thing!” For Japanese there’s the “Japanese the manga way” book, Kanji de Manga 1, Yojijukugo by Manga University, A Jap-Eng dictionary, a particle dictionary, a kanji dictionary, a kana book, and the Genki I books. Then just for Korean there’s a phrase book, a dictionary, Tuttle’s 500 basic verbs, a children’s book, 1A part of the Sogang series, Integrated Korean Beginning 1, and the beginner’s book from Spoken World Korean. I tend to finish one chapter then switch to another book so that I use them all and don’t neglect any. Sometimes one series/book will explain a point better than another one did or may have something none of the others did. Extra practice/reinforcement is always good too. 😀 I really wanna try the Ewha and the Yonsei books you’ve recommended so once some money comes by, I shall claim them! X3 Language books FTW!

I also find studying a language relaxing. I can’t wait for this semester to be done so I can really pay more attention to Korean and reinforce what I’m learning in my Japanese class. We will be language geeks and regret nothing! >:D

Spanish was actually the first foreign language that i was interested in. but too bad at that time, i was super new to language learning and i dont really know where to access suitable materials / dramas etc. Russian is the top of my list at the moment 😀 Maybe 3 years later, hangukdrama will talk bout learning Russian. Even more major misnomer lol

hehe multiple resources are definitely good!! I like to switch between books too 😀 makes learning more interesting 😀 😀

I can’t wait for this semester to be over toooooooooooo

I think we have the same obsession. I really enjoy studying languages, and my current favorite is Korean! I already know French, and I’m thinking of starting a self-study Korean blog!

I’m relatively new by comparison, but I think it will be a great benefit to everyone involved to be part of the Korean self-study blog community, so I’ve created one.

That’s really good. At least you know what you want. This is way better than many people who are lost and don’t know what they want. There is nothing happier than doing what you like and what you want. All the best as aways! ^^

haha~ Just the other day I was thinking about what I really need in an apartment. It ended up being: a bed, a place to shower, my computer, and shelves. The shelves will be for all my Japanese/Chinese/Korean/Spanish books. lol. Anything else would just be a plus. Nobody will want to visit me, because my apartment will be so boring. Oh well, at least I will be amused. >:D

Omg a walk in library! That would be a dream come true! I have been talking about having my own library since I was in high school I think…idk, but I’ve been wanting one for many years now lol. I just love to read and I love learning languages. I know this is an old post but I just found your blog early last year and have been reading through all your old and most recent posts. You have inspired me to start my own separate language blog as a way to share my experiences. Best of luck in your continued studies as an advanced learner 🙂
