“I’ll study Korean when I have NO time”

We always like to say that “I’ll study Korean when I finish xxx exam or when I have time after this busy period” etc. I do the same.

But I realized that it doesn’t work this way. Not for me.

I am particularly motivated to study Korean when I’m damn busy. Yes, it’s such a weird habit. I’ll always think “I’d rather study Korean than do my work! TSK” and then proceed to pore over my Korean books. OTL And I’ll be strangely happy that I got to study Korean in a busy period. -___-

Whenever I have relatively more time, I’m less motivated to study Korean.

Bottom line? Don’t think that you will definitely study Korean when you have time. Chances are you will either always have no time or that you will not feel motivated to study Korean even if you have time.

Consistency still works best. 티끌 모아 태산.

    Exactly! I also often end up studying Korean on a busy period – a pretty good way to procrastinate and avoid things that must be done first. And it does happen to me too that when I have loads of time, I’m just not in the mood to study Korean. XD

    Now what should I add to 9 to make it 12? *finger counting*

    I’m always like this and I don’t even know why. Whenever I’m supposed to be doing sth else I always study Korean or Japanese.

    I was looking for Korean classes in Sg for this Dec hols and came across your old blog. You have no idea how inspirational you are 😉 I didnt manage to find any school tt seems to be suitable, so I’m sticking to my original plan to self study haha. But I’m graduating next year, so am wondering how do you find the time to self study while working? (assuming u graduate alr haha..)

    Yeah, I agree with you. I always think, “if when I am busy I can study Korean, I will do a lot when I have free time.” Thanks god it works well.

    I do both of these! XD Sometimes I’ll think, “I’ll study when I’m not tired so I don’t turn my book into a pillow.” Most of the time though, like right now, I should be practicing playing some pieces for class and I don’t wanna. DX I wanna study my languages. Mine. GTFO college (except for Japanese class). If there was a wonderful way to sleep and study Korean and Japanese inside the dream world, that would be AWESOME! ;A;

    So true! i study korean when i’m on the train or bus or during work in office, or late at night at 1am before i have to sleep, but when I have hours of block rest I don’t really reach for korean materials. I’m still amazed I haven’t gotten tired of language learning yet. I think it’s because of the materials I’m using. I tried to read a chapter of Klear textbook and immediately I wanted to give up. But if it’s learning on my own terms from stuff I see somewhere and wanted to find out about it, then it’s okay. But most of the time that’s on the go, when I read someone’s tweet or an article and I gotta either reach for my phone to quickly check with Naver or wait till I return home to find out what it means. In a cruel way, I find that I remember Korean better when I’m dead tired. Does that even make sense? OTL

      hahaha! that’s interesting. I need to be of the mental condition to be able to absorb Korean. When I’m dead tired, Korean becomes gibberish to me xD
