“I’ll study Korean when I have NO time”

25 November, 2012

We always like to say that “I’ll study Korean when I finish xxx exam or when I have time after this busy period” etc. I do the same.

But I realized that it doesn’t work this way. Not for me.

I am particularly motivated to study Korean when I’m damn busy. Yes, it’s such a weird habit. I’ll always think “I’d rather study Korean than do my work! TSK” and then proceed to pore over my Korean books. OTL And I’ll be strangely happy that I got to study Korean in a busy period. -___-

Whenever I have relatively more time, I’m less motivated to study Korean.

Bottom line? Don’t think that you will definitely study Korean when you have time. Chances are you will either always have no time or that you will not feel motivated to study Korean even if you have time.

Consistency still works best. 티끌 모아 태산.

Happy Sunday!

    1. Exactly! I also often end up studying Korean on a busy period – a pretty good way to procrastinate and avoid things that must be done first. And it does happen to me too that when I have loads of time, I’m just not in the mood to study Korean. XD

Now what should I add to 9 to make it 12? *finger counting*

      1. haha!!! I had to think awhile too! ><;; woefully inadequate mathematic skills 😛

    1. I feel/think the same way Shanna! Today, the word CONSISTENCY reverberates in my head.

    1. I’m always like this and I don’t even know why. Whenever I’m supposed to be doing sth else I always study Korean or Japanese.

      1. yeahhh. basically i think i just love to do other things other than the stuff that i’m supposed to do OTL

    1. EXACTLY! I totally agree with this! I usually am very motivated to study Korean when I’m busy especially when I was still studying in the university. haha. so weird. and when I have all the time in the world, I tend to put off kstudying instead.

      1. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ it’s like how I would study Japanese during TOPIK preparation time -.-

    1. 나도 그래요~
But I’ll always think about Korean no matter when I’m free or when I’m busy… I think I’m crazy… >.<

      1. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ im always thinking of Korean too. And sighing about how i wish that i can just study korean allllll day long

        1. Yup! I wish the same too… Too bad I had to work & gotta start my course again next year.. Hopefully it won’t affect much of my time.. Sigh…

    1. I was looking for Korean classes in Sg for this Dec hols and came across your old blog. You have no idea how inspirational you are 😉 I didnt manage to find any school tt seems to be suitable, so I’m sticking to my original plan to self study haha. But I’m graduating next year, so am wondering how do you find the time to self study while working? (assuming u graduate alr haha..)

      1. Thanks!! 😀 yeah self study will probably work best! ^^ hahaha I haven’t graduated XD I guess I’ll find out whether I can keep this blog alive / study languages when I’m working next time. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

        1. Haha paiseh I just assumed since there was one post abt Jap u mentioned uni in past tense; i guess its previous semesters haha.. 😛 #hastyconclusion
and you should try to keep this blog alive while studying languages while you’re working too, its really very inspirational! 할 수 있어요! 頑張ってください! ^___^ ㅋㅋ

    1. I actually do this all the time LOL but learning Korean is always on my mind! So I always land up studying Korean because I can’t take not studying Korean *_* like I’m crazy for Korean 😀

    1. I thought I was the only one ㅋㅋㅋ
I tend to study Korean before I start on my school work. it makes me feel less stressful and hope to enjoy school work as much as Korean hahaha

    1. LOL My finals are in a week’s time and I had meant to study last night, but I thought, I’ll do it on Sunday (i’ll have the whooooollleeee day). Did nothing today either. Instead I just watched Jeon Woo Chi (the new drama) and Ooh La La Couple..and 1d2n. Anything to avoid studying which I really have to do LOL

      1. same situation here D: D: i gave up on jeon woo chi though ><;; too much CG for my liking and i love the book and movie loads more (as of now). im still following the recaps though. and is ooh la la couple nice? I tried ep 1 and i got turned off by the female lead's voice.

    1. Yeah, I agree with you. I always think, “if when I am busy I can study Korean, I will do a lot when I have free time.” Thanks god it works well.

    1. I do both of these! XD Sometimes I’ll think, “I’ll study when I’m not tired so I don’t turn my book into a pillow.” Most of the time though, like right now, I should be practicing playing some pieces for class and I don’t wanna. DX I wanna study my languages. Mine. GTFO college (except for Japanese class). If there was a wonderful way to sleep and study Korean and Japanese inside the dream world, that would be AWESOME! ;A;

      1. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ im supposed to be studying my exams right now but all I did was to read my korean novels OTL won’t it be awesome if we are all fluent in our dream world too? 😛

    1. So true! i study korean when i’m on the train or bus or during work in office, or late at night at 1am before i have to sleep, but when I have hours of block rest I don’t really reach for korean materials. I’m still amazed I haven’t gotten tired of language learning yet. I think it’s because of the materials I’m using. I tried to read a chapter of Klear textbook and immediately I wanted to give up. But if it’s learning on my own terms from stuff I see somewhere and wanted to find out about it, then it’s okay. But most of the time that’s on the go, when I read someone’s tweet or an article and I gotta either reach for my phone to quickly check with Naver or wait till I return home to find out what it means. In a cruel way, I find that I remember Korean better when I’m dead tired. Does that even make sense? OTL

      1. hahaha! that’s interesting. I need to be of the mental condition to be able to absorb Korean. When I’m dead tired, Korean becomes gibberish to me xD
