오늘은 제 7회 싱가포르 한국어 말하기 대회였어요!!! ㅋㅋ
wooots!! HAD SO MUCH FUN TODAY 😀 And… I’m now ‘officially unqualified’ to compete in the future Korean speech contests in Singapore.
I WON SECOND!!!
(past year 1st/2nd place winners can’t compete again)
Seriously, the Korean speech contests in Singapore hold so much memories for me: going there to listen in 2008 (when I first started learning Korean), competing in 2009 and getting one of the 3 runner up prizes and now 2012!
It’s kinda funny, I think I have bad luck with this contest. In 2009 I was having such a bad cold / allergy I literally was sneezing like mad until 5 min before going up the stage. And this year, I puked at home before going for the contest -.- Been having some indigestion problems.
But it was soo fun!! I think compared to 2009, I am now more confident in my Korean but some things still remain the same. I wrote my script the way I want it, instead of trying to make it more interesting to the audience. I think I had a pretty mundane script OTL.
The speech contest was held as part of the Korea Festival this year and even though the area was quite small, there was quite a crowd and several booths. There was a booth selling some special type of 막걸리 and 소주 and they offer you free tasting!! But my poor stomach means I couldn’t drink. -.- My friends all tell me that the makgoli is super nice. Should have got a bottle but I had too many things to carry already. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
I’m really not a stage person but I super love being on stage and speaking Korean ^^;; Not nervous at all. I’m so strange. So fun! Had a great time listening to the speeches, even though I heard them during the prelims!! Was a little distracted when my stomach acted up a little halfway through O.o
I can’t really remember how I felt when they announced the winners, cos I was kinda in pain. ooops. I just remembered being with my friends, feeling a bit distracted and then hearing my number and name called. o.O
CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!!!
I think the highlight of the contest for me was really having my friends (from the blog) come to support me! I wouldn’t have met all these great people without this blog. 고마워~ 뿅!! Sorry that you guys had to stand for a few hours ^^;; Heh 16 of us went to a cafe to relax a bit and the waiter was quite shocked at our numbers lolol. At least we found a place to sit down, even though it was not air-conditioned. Had a great time.
Can’t believe that it has been almost 5 years of learning Korean. Time flies~~~~ (:
It’s definitely another important milestone in my learning journey 😀 I think next year, I’ll be on the stage again….. as a cheering team for my friends!!!
P.S. A lot of Singaporean readers are experiencing downs on my blog. WHYYYY. Let me know if you are the same!!! ><;; I ALSO COULDN’T SEE MY OWN BLOG. It’s stupid because I can access the blog on my 3G BUT not on my home internet (different telecom provider)
