I have a bias towards language teachers with linguistics background, native speaker or not. XD
Of course native speakers have the advantage of knowing everything about their language. You can ask ‘anything’ and they have answers for you right away. You can be sure they can point out ungrammatical/unacceptable/strange sentence constructions/choice of words/pronunciation. And would definitely have perfect pronunciation. The thing is we all know how difficult it is for native speakers to answer ‘why?’ because it’s always 그냥 haha. We have native speaker teachers in our department (linguistics) for different languages. Most students point out that it’s difficult on the classes under teachers without a linguistic background. But those native speaker teachers with linguistics background or at least even basic linguistics knowledge are the best teachers I think. Because they can explain things clearly.
For non-native speakers, they may have certain weaknesses (ie pronunciation of a certain sound). Their native language may have influence to their second (or third) language. They may not have instant answers to questions, especially advanced questions. But I think since they also ‘learned’ the language they are teaching first, they can explain things better. They can even give tips and strategies and share their experience in learning it. They can also serve as an inspiration to the students that it’s possible to be fluent in the target language. Since they ‘learned’ it, they know what may or may not work. It’s also better if their native language is also the native language of the students since they can explain things further and compare and contrast the two languages (In our university textbooks are written in the target language and english, but there are things that can better be translated/explained in our native language – something that the native speakers can’t relate with). But we have non-native speaker teachers who are also not very effective (those with no linguistics background again – sorry). They tend to be bookish. Some of them, just because they are good in rote memorization when they were still studying, thinks it’ll work for everyone simply because it worked for them.
So I guess, for me, the best teachers are native speakers with linguistics background and wide knowledge of the student’s native language (for beginners at least), followed by non-native speakers with linguistics background, non-native speakers w/o linguistics background, then native speakers without linguistics background. 🙂

Instead of teaching Korean to students,
set up such as blog, f book, internet radio program
introducing (or teaching) Korean drama, k-pop, fashion, food
, social trends in Korea or anything that interests you most.
That way you can bring more people in. That will open up more chances that you don’t expect.
Or Find a job with Korean companies. There are many large, small companies in Korea wishing to market their products or services to Asia. you can get a good Job, cause you speak Chi/Eng/Kor. For Ex. mobile messenger Cacao Talk is sweeping Korea. You contact them that you want to bring that service in Singapore, Mal, Indone…..etc.
I think there are so many opportunities out there for you if you are a bit aggressive.
