초심

The concept of 초심 is interesting. The dictionary translates it as “original intention/resolution” but I feel like something has been lost in translation. 

For me, the word encompasses not just the original intentions, but also attitude, feelings and motivation at the point when you first embark on something.

While we always resolve not to lose our roots / forget our humble start, we often don’t keep to our promises. 

I always tell myself to cherish opportunities or things that I’m able to have but it’s not easy. 

When things go well, there is a tendency to be complacent, or even unhappiness as you look towards other in better positions. 

When things are rocky, it is easy to start hating the decision and forget the happiness and gratefulness you felt at the start. 

How many of us can proudly say that we didn’t lose our 초심? 

I don’t know.
