Studying for my Spanish test right now ㅠㅠ Seriously, I realised that the key to learning a language is interest. Not that I don’t like Spanish. It’s actually the first foreign language that I thought of learning a few years back. But somehow, the interest is limited to Chayanne’s songs and Barcelona.
I know nothing about the culture, about their way of life. I get no exposure to dramas, I dunno any Spanish actors/actresses or any famous people from Spanish-speaking countries.
Language cannot be separated from its culture. Not knowing anything about the culture makes me feel that I know nothing about the language even though technically, I know how to form simple sentences. Sometimes, I feel that I’m learning Spanish in a vacuum and all I’m doing is ‘solving’ the puzzle of Spanish grammar.
I feel like studying Korean now. Random, I know 😀 Sometimes, even I wonder why I love Korean so much. ㅋㅋ
can’t wait for the next ep of 미남이시네요!!
다음에 봐요~~!!

4 February, 2011 at 11:16 PMI learned Spanish a few years back. Learned? Scratch that. I took Spanish classes a few years ago. We are required to have at least 2 classes of foreign languages (when my major is not yet linguistics). I thought that Spanish would be the easiest one since our native language have a lot of borrowings from Spanish (and back then, i thought that our language came from the same family). I don’t have any ‘interaction’ with that language outside our classroom. Now, I don’t remember a single Spanish word (aside from those borrowed words that we use). 🙁
