12 In Korean learning journey (:

트와일라잇 and updates (:

오래만이에요!! long time no see (:

I’m feeling so bad for neglecting this space while updating frequently in my Naver Blog. (: But I haven’t been studying much Korean these days, so there’s nothing much to update here.

So what have I been up to these days?

1. Reading Korean Novels!!

I’m so proud/elated/HAPPY that I’m finally able to read full length novels, although I’m still going on at a snail pace. I can understand almost everything with the help of my trusty (is there such a word??) Nate and Naver dictionary 😀 It’s a great way to pick up loads of new vocabulary and phrases ~

Speaking of korean novels, I have been dying to get my hands on the korean version of Twilight (: I’ve seen New Heart and Eclipse in the korean mart, but they cost $33.90 each!

So I was really happy that my friend from Korea helped me buy the book ^^ She arrived in Singapore last sunday and we met up for the first time yesterday!! (:  She’s from Busan, so she speak the 경상도 사투리 (korean dialect). It sounds different from Seoul speech but really interesting! I like the intonation alot. It’s special. I hope I can master it one day (:

2. Running my English cafe

It has now grown to 154 members ^^ haha answering all the questions has made me reflect alot on my knowledge of english. How I took it for granted. Looking at it from an objective viewpoint, English can be real confusing at times.

Goal setting time

I’ve realised that my korean ability is skewed. My reading ability is improving by alot, but when it comes to writing… there’s still so much room for improvement.

1. to revise and look through all my past notes – I just kept moving on :X

2. to concentrate more on learning grammar – I’ve been doing more vocabulary these days

Wow, you can read Korean novels now? You’re better than me then 😀

It’s wonderful to hear you have a friend from Korea itself. As for me I hope to hear the Jeolla dialect (전라도 사투리) from a friend one day ^^

The cover for the Twilight novel looks gorgeous… I finished reading the series (english version) and I thought it was great~ The movie did not do justice to the book at all. :

      yes!I totally agree. I re-read Twilight at least 4 times already. 😀

haha the korean series all look gorgeous. But since it’s a translated version, the romantic feeling isn’t so pronounced. ):

I have 내 이름은 김삼순 novel (from a Korean friend too 🙂 ) Because of this post of yours, I opened my copy once again (the last time I opened it I only get to understand like 4-5 words/page. haha!) and was surprised that I get to understand the first paragraph completely (the sentences were rather easy, but nonetheless I didn’t understand it before). I’m still far from being able to read the novel entirely. But someday I hope I’ll be able to read it too. 🙂

I highly recommend it. But since I’m just halfway across your blog I’m not yet sure if we have the same taste in dramas. But dramabeans rated it well (8,9 or 9,10), and I’ve read that you kinda have the same taste with her. So maybe you’ll like it. ㅎㅎㅎ Me and a good friend are studying the script of 김삼순 and a handful of words that I don’t know were ‘bad words’. My Korean teacher saw our list and said, “좋은 단어를 많이 공부하세요” ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

    Hi,
I have started to learn korean. I am big fan of kdrama). But I find it hard to learn only from textbooks.I need sth more fun.
That is why I wanted to get some book written in hangul.Thought I would not be able to read quickly, it would help me to remember words as they repeat within the book.
But I can not find any books in korean which I would be interested in.
I searched for sth like Harry Potter of Twilight series, but can not find any on internet. And my korean is still not so good to purchase it on korean websites.(Also I am not sure if I would be able to with my visa card)

Can I ask where did you buy your Twilight book?Do anyone know where to buy it as ebook?Paperback could be also, but from some shop where they selling to Europe.
    Thanks a lot.

hello!! I got my Twilight book as a gift. If you are just looking for reading materials, there are soooo much things on the internet, you don’t really have to invest in a book ^^ you can try reading about kdramas / kpop articles in korean 😀
