Had the first Japanese level 2 lesson of the semester and I must say that I’m rather… stressed up. >,< Unlike the past semester where my teacher was actually a Chinese, I had a Japanese teacher this sem. She uses minimal English in class and all her instructions are in Japanese!!! omg omg.
Rational me thinks that this is real awesome and that’s how a language class should be like. We were given ample opportunity to practice speaking and listening and it’s good that we are not relying on English. The sensei speaks in her normal speed and it’s good practice. She is more particular and will pick out our pronunciation mistakes, unlike our previous teacher where only the more obvious and major mistakes will be pointed out.
Korean fanatic me is super freaked out. Most of my classmates seems to have alot of prior knowledge and genuine interest/passion for the language. I wondered why I was in that class. I spent the whole lesson thinking in Korean and getting so mixed up over the 2 languages. We needed to talk about the days and I nearly said geumyobi instead of kayobi (tuesday). I told my sensei 네 instead of hai. and the list goes on….
Somehow after this episode, I can understand how people feel in Korean classes. Like those who wanna learn but are not THAT into the whole culture/language yet. Very stressed.
