9 In Korean learning journey (:

기억과 밀접한 관계 있는 노래들

Sunday, 11pm.

Just doing some light reading in Korean by doing a few questions in the 국어능력인증시험 book. It never fails to amaze me how I’ll never find anything related to Korean “difficult or impossible”. That’s really the right mindset in life, I think.

Listening to SG Wannabe and feeling a little sad, yet at ease at the same time. I tend to associate certain songs with certain periods of my life, maybe cos I just love to put songs on repeat. So one song / artist can become an integral part of my life during a certain period. Kinda?

SG Wannabe was associated with one of my hardest period in life. When I felt really lost, hopes raised and then crashed. For a period of time, I refuse to listen to them anymore, because it will remind me of that period and all that feelings will come crashing on me again. But now, I think I’ve gotten over it for the most part (:

Sometimes listening to certain songs can really bring back memories. Listening to SE7EN reminds me of the time when I first started learning Korean. I would put his songs on repeat while I work through the Sogang Online Program and then keep singing 와줘 Part 2 😛 A lot of happy memories associated with Big Bang songs too.

This was a song that one of my first language partners introduced me 😀 Strangely it has become one of my favorite songs and somehow acquired a special place in my heart. I remembered listening to it on repeat mode. Somehow I have associated it very strongly to my Korean learning journey. (:

Do you also have songs that you associate with certain periods of your life or memories? ^^

I think that’s kinda normal, but some people may relate in a stronger way. I even, during school, used to read books while listening to a certain amount of songs, so actually, when I had already finished reading it, I would listen to this song and remember of chapter x, y and z and what happened; with that song, others chapters. Thanks God I’ve already lost this connection, because I had it for some years and listening to some songs would make me remind of sad parts of the books, etc hahaha

I would like to say which songs were, in my life in general, but for many years I listened to jpop rather than kpop. But I’ve been listening to Namie Amuro and following her career since 10 years ago, so songs related to memories or periods of my life I have a loot hahaha

But listening to SHINee while I study 한국어 really boosts up my mood, because they’re my first reason to start learning it. They’re not the only reason anymore, but still have that special meaning, you know? 😀

I’m not sure I had any songs that I associated with learning Korean, but my first Korean song was 김종국- 한 남자~ I really enjoy Korean ballads and this song is very beautiful :D. But I think everyone associated like songs or bands when periods of their life like for my childhood, there was Backstreet Boys and Nsync, Britney Spears etc. I still really enjoy this old school songs! Were there any bands or music you enjoy during your childhood? ^^
